Calgary Catholic schools...Bravo!

Dear Mr Eggen,
In the Catholic world, January 1 is the feast of Mary, Mother of God.  All Christians recognize her as playing a key role in bringing Jesus to the world.  Likewise,  the role of Catholic education is, at least in part, to bring Jesus to the world.  There is pain, poverty and brokenness in this world which calls each one of us to help, to reach out with Christ's love.
In this letter I want to share some beautiful facts that show Jesus' love in action.  Community service and social justice projects are undoubtedly some of the most important work ever done in/by school children.  I think we are in agreement on this point!  And how has this impressive service work come about?  By the leadership and caring of the Calgary Catholic School Division.  Obviously they are not the only division raising money for charity and serving their community, but, they are the first of hopefully many boards that we can look into.
In the school year ending in June of 2016:
-76 schools raised money for the Cancer Foundation through the Terry Fox run.
-82 schools raised money/support for the St Vincent de Paul Society which aids those in need.
-69 schools gathered goods needed by the Food Bank (an equal number of schools prepared and donated food hampers).
-776 documented service projects took place in the 109 schools in the Calgary Catholic School Division.
....wow!....
Do you agree that the Christian worldview of concern for the well-being of one's neighbour may have contributed to the positive impact here?  I see Mary, our heavenly Mother smiling down on all this work of sharing the love of Jesus.
I pray for blessing on you, Mr Eggen.   May you grow in confidence that people who teach Christianity know how to love.  We know how to serve.  We know that the poor, the hurting and the mistreated deserve all the respect that is due to a child of God the Father himself.
    Sincerely,
Your pen pal,
Catherine van Kampen
