Well-Worn Truth

Dear Mr Eggen,
Regarding the new curriculum coming out, especially the Social Studies program,  does it tell the truth?  Sometimes it's more interesting to change the content of what we teach.

"This effort at  supplanting true history by false is part of the general skepticism of our time, which is usually ready to accept anything new because new falsehoods sound more picturesque as a rule than well-worn truth."   (Hilaire Belloc)

I don't know the content or the teaching objectives of this new curriculum.  I just know that when it comes out, many teachers may ignore parts of it that promote popular current ideas, if these ideas aren't actually true.

 Sincerely,
Catherine van Kampen
